AM - ARE - IS



 1.- The verb to be is the most important verb in the English language. Because it allows a lot of sentences. When we study English, it is the first verb that we learn.
El verbo to be es el verbo más importante en el idioma inglés. Porque permite una gran variedad de oraciones. Cuando estudiamos inglés, es el primer verbo que aprendemos.
2.- We use the verb to be to talk about the present and it has this order.
Usamos el verbo to be para hablar del presente y tiene este orden.





3.- There are three forms of the verb to be: am, is and are. Each one of them is related to a subject pronoun.

Hay tres formas del verbo to be: am, is y are. Cada uno de ellos está relacionado a un pronombre personal.




4.- We can use the verb to be with a noun or an adjective.
Podemos usar el verbo to be con un sustantivo o un adjetivo.
  • I am a student - Yo soy un estudiante.
  • My mother is beautiful - Mi madre is hermosa.
  • You are a good teacher - Tú eres un buen profesor.

5.- It means ser, estar, and tener (when we talk about things that we can not see).
Significa: ser, estar y tener (cuando hablamos acerca de cosas que no podemos ver).
  • They are parents - Ellos son padres.
  • She is in love - Ella está enamorada.
  • I am hungry - Tengo hambre.
  • I am twenty years - Tengo veinte años.
  • You are happy - Tú eres feliz.

VERB TO BE (NEGATIVE FORM) 1.- The verb to be in negative form has this order. El verbo to be en negativo tiene este orden. 2.- We put not after the verb to be to make negative sentences. Ponemos not después del verbo to be para hacer oraciones en negativo. I am a doctor  →  I am not a doctor. You are my friend   →  You are not my friend. VERB TO BE (QUESTION FORM) 1.- We can make questions using the verb to be. Podemos hacer preguntas usando el verbo to be. Are you a nurse? - ¿Eres enfermera? 2.- The questions in the verb to be have this order. Las preguntas en el verbo to be tienen este orden. Am I a politician? - ¿Soy un político? Are you Mexican? - ¿Eres mexicano? Is he your father? - ¿Él es tu padre? Is she our teacher? - ¿Ella es nuestra profesora? Is it your cat? - ¿Ese es tu gato? Are we wrong? - ¿Estamos equivocados? Are they Japanese? - ¿Ellos son japoneses? 3.-  Don´t forget to put the interrogative sign at the end of the question. No olvides colocar el signo de interrogación al final de la pregunta. 4.- We can answer the questions using short answers. Podemos responder las preguntas usando respuestas cortas. Are you Chinese? Yes, I am / No, I´m not . Is he a veterinarian? Yes, he is / No, he isn´t . We only use contraction
